Sometimes the intended purpose of a drug is to kill abnormal cells. Other times, cell death is an unintended consequence of a drug’s activity. While tried-and-true cell viability assays, such as the MTT assay, are adept at detecting the number of viable cells in an individual sample, they become a time suck when assessing numerous samples across multiwell plates.
