Innovating gene therapy delivery

Innovative carriers and delivery strategies may improve gene therapy efficacy and safety.

Adeno-associated virus (AAV) gene therapy shows great promise for disease treatment, but pre-existing neutralizing antibodies within hosts may hinder gene therapy delivery to target tissues and interfere with gene therapy re-administration. In this webinar, Jayoung Kim will discuss new approaches to evade AAV neutralizing antibodies and improve genetic cargo delivery to target tissues, including anchoring AAVs to red blood cells and using non-viral nanoparticles as gene therapy carriers.

Topics to be covered

  • Overcoming targeting and immunological barriers for AAV-mediated gene therapy
  • Understanding the difference between biodistribution and successful transgene expression
