Novai

Novai is a UK-based medtech company combatting blindness and disability by pioneering the early detection and intervention of eye and brain diseases. Built on research from Imperial College London and University College London, the company's proprietary Detection of Apoptosing Retinal Cells (DARC) platform combines ANX776, a fluorescently labelled Annexin A5 probe, with retinal imaging and advanced image analysis to identify stressed and apoptotic retinal cells in living patients before irreversible structural damage becomes apparent. DARC has been used in more than 350 patient procedures and has been evaluated in Phase I and Phase 2a studies across geographic atrophy, wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and glaucoma. Today, DARC is being used by biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies across Australia, the UK, Europe and the United States as an exploratory biomarker in preclinical and clinical studies in geographic atrophy, wet AMD, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and inherited retinal diseases.
