Persistent organic chemicals often creep into water and food sources. These chemicals, such as perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), are designed to make life simpler and can be found in non-stick cookware, food contact paper, cosmetics, and more. However, scientists have recently implicated these chemicals in cancer and other diseases.
