Lisa Stehno-Bittel

Dr. Stehno-Bittel founded Likarda, to transform the way complex therapies like cells and peptides are delivered to patients to function better and last longer. As President of Likarda, she helped spearhead the development of Core Shell Spherification (CSS), a cell delivery technology with wide applications in advanced therapeutics. The team focuses on enabling biologic treatments, including cell-based therapies, to achieve their desired outcomes and provide solutions for the scaled, long-term storage of these fragile products. Dr. Stehno-Bittel’s expertise lies in drug delivery systems, cell therapeutics, and strategic program management from over 12 years as a department chair at the University of Kansas prior to founding Likarda. Collaborating across disciplines, she built scalable, revenue-positive strategies that prioritize client projects. She has more than 80 publications in scientific journals and received more than $9 million in grant funding for her research. Lisa is a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering and has received numerous awards, including the Baxendale Commercialization Award. Ingram’s Magazine named her one of “50 Kansans You Should Know” and the Women in Medicine and Science Sirridge award for female role models.
