Bruce Poorman
President and Publisher
 
Bruce Poorman has more than 30 years publishing experience in the scientific marketplace. Prior to co-founding Drug Discovery News (ddn) in 2004, Bruce served as vice president and director of advertising sales at Centcom Ltd., a division of the American Chemical Society (ACS). For 26 years, he had domestic and international responsibility for two monthly magazines and 30 research journals. Prior to his experience in the publishing industry, Bruce was an advertising representative for several Cleveland radio stations. Bruce has a B.S. in Communications from Ohio University.
 
 
 
Laurence J. Doyle
Executive Vice President and Associate Publisher
 
Larry Doyle has more than 30 years of marketing and B2B publishing experience in the industrial and scientific marketplace. His past positions include supervisor of corporate marketing at General Electric; Marketing Communications Manager for Omega Engineering; and Vice President of Marketing at Centcom Ltd., a division of the American Chemical Society (ACS). At ACS, Larry helped lead the advertising and marketing arm of the publications division into the Internet age. He has a B.S. in Communications from Syracuse University and an MBA from the University of Bridgeport.
 

 
Amy Swinderman

Amy Swinderman began her career in journalism at the age of 15 as an at-large correspondent for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Ohio’s largest newspaper. She attended Cleveland State University on a full Plain Dealer scholarship, completing her Print Communication degree in 2001. Her focus then turned to trade journalism as she worked for B2B publications in the commercial construction and real estate settlement services industries. Most recently, Amy served as editor of The Legal Description, a bi-monthly publication and companion Web site focused on legal, legislative and regulatory matters affecting the real estate industry.
 

 
Jeffrey Bouley
Managing Editor
 
Jeffrey Bouley has been an editor and writer with a focus on healthcare issues since 1994, writing on medical, dental, pharmaceutical and environmental health topics for professional associations, magazines, newsletters and advocacy groups. He also has extensive experience in topics related to project management, business and information technology. He obtained both his B.A. and M.A degrees in journalism at Northwestern University.
 
 
 
Kelsey Kaustinen
Senior Editor

Kelsey Kaustinen has been involved with the publishing and editorial industry since high school, when she interned in the public relations department of Stark MRDD. She graduated from Marietta College in 2010 with a B.A. in English and a double minor in Advertising/Public Relations and Journalism. Kelsey served as both a section editor and writer for Marietta’s paper, The Marcolian, and also worked as an intern at The Marietta Times. She also held an internship at Bird Watcher’s Digest in the editorial department while pursuing her degree. Most recently, she worked in the healthcare industry.

 
 
Lloyd Dunlap

Following stints as a laboratory chemist and chemical engineer, Lloyd joined the editorial staff of Chemical & Engineering News. He then worked as a pharmaceutical advertising copywriter and agency owner. Lloyd signed on as a contributing editor with ddn in 2006, where his scientific expertise has been useful and appreciated.
 
 
 
Lori Lesko

Lori Lesko comes to ddn with 25 years of experience in journalism, covering breaking news, features, sports, natural disasters and political races for newspapers in Ohio and Florida, and as a correspondent/editor for United Press International in Cleveland. After receiving a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from The Ohio State University, Lori began her career covering Lake County, Ohio, courts for the now-defunct Painesville Telegraph and later, the Mansfield News Journal. As one of eight working journalists in the nation chosen for the OSU Kiplinger Fellowship Program, Lori studied political science and earned an M.A. degree in journalism. Most recently, she served as the associate editor of several trade publications for the real estate, settlement services and mortgage industries.

Ilene Schneider of Irvine, Calif., is the owner of Schneider the Writer, a firm that provides communications for health care, high technology and service enterprises. An award-winning writer, she was profiled in a book How to Open and Operate a Home-Based Writing Business and in various editions of Who's Who.

 
Jim Cirigliano

Jim Cirigliano has been an editor and a writer for more than 10 years. His body of work covers such eclectic topics as bird watching, gaming, natural history and pharmaceutical research. He has been managing editor of Bird Watcher’s Digest magazine and copy editor for The Natural View of Washington County newspaper since 2007. Jim occasionally teaches night classes as an adjunct professor at Marietta College, his alma mater, from which he earned his B.A. in Organizational Communications before completing his M.A. in Journalism & Communications from The Ohio State University.  
 

Steven Loerch

Steve Loerch, executive vice president of the Didier and Broderick advertising rep firm, in Northbrook, Ill., has more than two decades of experience providing quality representation to association and industry publishers, including the Nature Publishing Group as well as Biotechniques. Steve has been with Didier and Broderick since 1977, and in 1986, he and his partner, Jeffrey Dembski, acquired the firm from its founders as part of their succession plan. He is a cum laude graduate of the University of Dayton with a B.S. in Business Management.
 
 
 
Kayte Miller
Western Sales Representative

Kayte Miller is the sales representative for the western states where she will represent ddn with more than 15 years of experience as a marketing communications specialist in the biotechnology industry. Kayte has worked for MOD4ls ~ Marketing on Demand for Life Sciences agency as well as several biotech companies, including Applied Biosystems, Ciphergen Biosystems and Eksigent. Kayte will be working from her Bay Area, California office.

 
Lutz Krampitz
Germany, Switzerland, Austria & Benelux Sales Representative
 
Lutz Krampitz is a degreed social scientist and certified specialist in marketing and and communication. He has been doing international ad sales since 1993 and has run his own business since 2001. Lutz has worked for the American Chemical Society journals and publications Chemical & Engineering News and Modern Drug Discovery, as well as BioTechniques. He is a founding member of the German chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA).



Stephanie Painter
United Kingdom, Scandinavia, France, Italy, Spain, Greece Sales Representative

Stephanie Painter, president of Painter-Lowe Communications, has 26 years of experience in publicity, media and expositions, including 16 years of representing business-to-business publications. Stephanie has been publisher of LCGC Europe at Advanstar Communications and Group Publisher of Pharma and Nutraceuticals Business Technology magazines at CEC Europe. Stephanie’s online sales experience includes representing Separation Science, an online publication for the chromatography and analytical chemistry market.
