SHARING OPTIONS:

TORONTO—Bayer Inc. has announced that Bayer HealthCare has joined up with the Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC), a not-for-profit, public-private partnership. Bayer will help to fund the consortium to advance pre-competitive drug research in protein sciences and epigenetics, and will make available a subset of its compound library for screening, in addition to conducting the necessary chemical work to identify probes. The SGC and Bayer HealthCare will work together on research projects in Toronto and Oxford, United Kingdom, in hopes of identifying small molecules capable of interfering with the activity of proteins responsible for epigenetic control to target disease mechanisms. Any chemical probes and protein X-ray structures that result from the collaboration will be made available in the public domain to help advance epigenetic research.
