PASADENA, Calif.—Arrowhead Research recently announced the acquisition of privately held Alvos Therapeutics Inc., which holds a license to a platform of proprietary human-derived homing peptides and the method for their discovery from MD Anderson Cancer Center. Arrowhead plans to apply the technology for targeting their proprietary DPC and RONDEL siRNA delivery platforms. Arrowhead issued an upfront payment of 315,467 shares in restricted Arrowhead common stock, and Alvos shareholders are eligible to be issued additional stock valued at up to $23.5 million if certain clinical and regulatory milestones are met as well as additional issuances if the first three drugs using the new technology reach specific sales milestones.
